Welcome to Atrix, the Band.
Atrix, a Los Angeles based jazz sextet, was formed in the fall of 2011 The plan was to get together, play some standards, and see what happens - but mostly just to stretch out and have some fun. But it was clear from the start that this was something special - much more than just the sum of its parts. Each player brings a unique history of style and influence, that work together to form an environment of creativity and exploration. It's a jazz bag, but many other styles filter in; traditional Latin styles, Latin jazz, cool, , fusion, funk, bebop, straight ahead, etc.. The music reaches to find and express a new voice - one of angular melodies, sophisticated rhythms, and rich, colorful harmonies.
